Sigh... here's my first attempt and fail at proper panels. I just need to keep practicing. This is a piece by Mikel Janin

I'm not happy with the way my colors turned out.

I think there's a lot of solid work here. Your base color choices are good, you've avoided over-rendering and still maintain very solid form and lighting, and the page is consistent from panel to panel.

My only suggestions are: use colors more to create focus and how the eye enters and moves about each panel. Use colors to establish foreground, middleground and background (Gutterzombie.com has a nice example/tutorial by Dave McCaig), and vary the shadow colors to help the forms to pop even more (shadows tend to be tinted with the complementary color of the light source i.e. yellowish light yields purplish shadows).

Keep it up, man. You've definitely got some skills and your foundations are solid.

I know you have to be hard on yourself. If you're not, you aren't trying hard enough. I don't know that I've ever done anything that I don't look back on and spot glaring flaws. That being said, I don't think there is anything wrong with these colors. I think they work well with the line work. Be hard on yourself but have fun with it and every attempt will be even better.
